Roots are for trees.
Los Angeles California is now home to Monica Vilona, a ten year Aveda veteran hairdresser and educator. After growing up in Milwaukee Wisconsin, Monica relocated to LA (May 2010) in pursuit of her career dreams. Her easy going, and upbeat persona has let her easily advance editorially, as well build strong client relationships behind the chair. Monica's talent includes skills in hairstyling and has created red-carpet looks for the Grammy Awards and the Emmy Awards .
Hair extensions, advanced hair color and cutting, as well as makeup are other reasons she is sought after as a stylist or educator. Some of her past work has been a full time educator at The Aveda Institute in Milwaukee, entering The North American Hairstyling Awards in 2010 and numerous Aveda Certifications for advanced techniques as well as publication in magazines in the US and Spain. She also works as a freelance hairstylist for FOX Television.
Monica is certified in eyelash extensions and varieties of hair extensions as well as the Global Keratin Smoothing Treatment. Monica often takes continuing education and has worked with stylists from Vivienne Mackinder, Allan Ruiz (winner of NAHA 2007) to Ginger Boyle, as well as makeup with Leslie Munsell and Rudy Miles. Another passion is specializing in bridal work, fashion and editorial hair. Being meticulous, yet undeniably creative allows her to create works of art out of hair pieces and has even created a gown out of over 300 plastic bags. Monica has also trained as a Makeup Artist and created Hair and Makeup Collections and advertisements for Planet Salon in Beverly Hills. She also styles Kate Somerville of Kate Somerville Skin Care Experts.
Prior to her move to LA, she worked on Neroli Salon and Spa photo shoots (one of the top 200 salons in the country) as well as traveled around the Midwest creating team photo shoots with designers, photographers, and models to be used in print. She is always excited for all styles of work and is very flexible with her versatile talents, as she is a leading force now on the West Coast.
